[Financial News] The Korea Land and Geospatial Informatix Corporation (LX) received a Prime Minister’s Commendation for its contributions to developing national standards and advancing international standardization in the geospatial information sector.
LX Corporation said it was named an outstanding organization in the national standardization category at the 2026 World Standards Day ceremony held at the Korea Chamber of Commerce and Industry in Seoul on the 14th.
The Korean Agency for Technology and Standards recognizes individuals and organizations each year on World Standards Day for their contributions to enhancing national competitiveness through standardization. World Standards Day was designated by the International Organization for Standardization (ISO), the International Electrotechnical Commission (IEC) and the International Telecommunication Union (ITU) to raise awareness of the importance of standards.
In 2017, the Ministry of Land, Infrastructure and Transport designated LX Corporation as a Cooperation Organization for Standards Development (COSD) in the geospatial information sector and as the domestic secretariat for the Geographic Information Technical Committee on international standardization. Over the following approximately nine years, it developed and managed 108 national standards for geospatial information and worked to improve the compatibility of spatial data between the public and private sectors.
It also led revisions to the application schema rules and the conceptual mapping of Building Information Modeling–Geospatial Information (BIM-GIS), incorporating Korean technologies into international standards.
“This commendation is an achievement shared by LX employees who have worked to standardize geospatial information and experts from industry, academia and research,” said Sim Byeong-seop, head of LX Corporation’s Geospatial Information Division. “We will continue to step up our standardization activities at home and abroad so that geospatial information standards can serve as a foundation for the country’s digital transformation.”
