[Financial News] Cheonan’s residential map is rapidly expanding toward Seongseong Lake Park, where a pleasant natural environment and systematic urban development come together.
According to industry sources on the 14th, development on a mini-new-town scale, encompassing around 25,000 households, is underway in the Seongseong Lake area. It is transforming beyond a simple expansion of residential areas into a new residential hub representing Cheonan. Created through the ecological restoration of the former Eopseong Reservoir, the approximately 520,000-square-meter Seongseong Lake Park features ecological trails, a lawn plaza and Mulbitnuri Bridge. This urban eco-space is highly regarded by prospective buyers who value lake views and pleasant living conditions.
Samsung’s large-scale investment plans are underpinning the value of the Seongseong Lake area. According to Cheonan City, Samsung has launched a major investment project totaling 19 trillion won in the Cheonan area. Samsung Electronics Co., Ltd. is investing 10 trillion won to modernize its high-bandwidth memory (HBM) fab, while Samsung SDI Co., Ltd. is also investing 9 trillion won to build a next-generation battery mother factory, providing a powerful growth engine for the local economy.
The ‘Infrastructure Complex Building,’ the first project to break ground under this 19 trillion won investment, has also recently begun construction in Seongseong-dong, Seobuk-gu. With a gross floor area of 38,200 square meters, it is accelerating the development of production facilities. As large-scale industrial investment translates into the construction of actual infrastructure, the Seongseong Lake area is developing into a self-sufficient community where people can live close to work.
Plans to expand the transport network are also progressing smoothly. Buseong Station on Seoul Metropolitan Subway Line 1 is being developed with the aim of opening in 2029. Commuting to nearby industrial complexes via Beonyeong-ro and Samsung-daero is convenient, as is regional travel using KTX Cheonan-Asan Station and Cheonan IC. Residents can also enjoy an excellent educational environment with many schools in the area, as well as abundant shopping and cultural amenities, including the Cheonan Agricultural and Fisheries Products Wholesale Market, Costco, E-Mart and Shinsegae Department Store.
“The Seongseong Lake area is establishing itself as Cheonan’s new residential hub, with the pleasant setting of the lakeside park complemented by demand for homes close to workplaces driven by Samsung’s 19 trillion won investment and the boost from the new Buseong Station,” an industry source said. “In particular, end-user interest is expected to focus on newly offered complexes with lake views and the premium of a large-scale development.”
POSCO E&C will offer a new residential complex in the Seongseong Lake area this October. The company plans to sell The Sharp Cheonan Lac One in the Buseong 2 Urban Development District in Budae-dong, Seobuk-gu, Cheonan, South Chungcheong Province. The complex will comprise 10 buildings, with two basement levels and 37 floors above ground, and a total of 1,290 units with exclusive floor areas of 84 to 118 square meters. Of these, 1,032 units will be offered for general sale.
The planned Buseong Station on Line 1 will be located within approximately 500 meters of the complex, and some units will have views of nearby Seongseong Lake Park. In particular, all units with an exclusive floor area of 118 square meters will face southwest, with the complex designed to give most residents views of the park.
