[Financial News] President Lee Jae-myung said on the 14th that he “believe[d] and expect[ed]” new presidential chief of staff Lim Gwang-hyun to “do as much as Hoon-sik, if not more.”
That day, President Lee wrote on X (formerly Twitter), “Welcome, Chief Lim Gwang-hyun,” and added the same message.
To presidential chief of staff Kang Hoon-sik, he said, “You’ve worked so hard,” and expressed his gratitude, saying, “You played a major role in stabilizing early on the People Sovereignty Government, which began in a barren landscape, and normalizing state affairs.”
He went on to urge, “Let us show boundless respect for the will of the Korean people and cross this great watershed in our modern history together.”
That day, President Lee appointed National Tax Service Commissioner Lim Gwang-hyun as the new chief of staff. Kang, who had previously offered his resignation, held his final briefing at Chunchugwan and personally announced his successor’s appointment.
The new chief of staff, who served as a member of the 22nd National Assembly and as the first National Tax Service commissioner under the Lee Jae-myung administration, said, “As the person with the highest responsibility for assisting the president, I will oversee all Blue House operations and devote all my efforts to achieving results for people’s livelihoods.”
He emphasized, “Just as every day is urgent for the people, every day at the Blue House must be urgent too. I will do everything I can to change the people’s difficult day-to-day lives.”
