TS and Harim said on the 14th that they had signed an agreement at Harim’s headquarters in Iksan, Jeonbuk Special Self-Governing Province, to improve safety in live poultry truck operations and support SMEs in developing safety technologies.
Under the agreement, TS will provide expertise in automotive safety standards and vehicle tuning. It will review changes to vehicle structures and equipment resulting from the installation of safety devices, and provide technical support on tuning approvals, vehicle specifications, and compliance with structural and safety standards.
Harim will provide its live poultry vehicle loading, transport and unloading sites as testing grounds. It plans to identify potential hazards in the work process and assess the safety devices’ effectiveness in preventing accidents and improving ease of work.
Based on the test results, the two parties will develop a safety management model for loading and unloading live poultry trucks. They will inform drivers and workers about safety rules and how to use the devices, and strengthen a prevention-focused management system drawing on accident and hazard cases.
They will consider phasing in technologies proven effective in field tests across Harim’s partner transport vehicles. The aim is to steadily raise safety standards in the live poultry transport sector.
SMEs will design and manufacture safety devices to prevent workers from falling from height or otherwise falling, and to prevent cargo from becoming dislodged. TS will support technical reviews and improvements to adapt the products for use in vehicles, establishing a framework that links idea generation with development, testing and on-site application.
TS plans to continue expanding field-focused technical support and private-sector cooperation, and to identify collaborative models that enhance both traffic safety and SMEs’ technological competitiveness.
TS Chairman Jung Yong-sik said, “Through this agreement, we will organically connect the authority’s expertise in automotive safety and tuning with Harim’s field experience and SMEs’ technological capabilities to create working environments where employees can feel safe. We will actively support outstanding safety technologies developed by SMEs so they can grow and spread in the field.”
