[Financial News] LG Electronics unveiled an eco-friendly housing solution combining artificial intelligence (AI) home appliances, heating, ventilation and air conditioning (HVAC), and energy management technologies, demonstrating the potential of energy-self-sufficient homes.
LG Electronics said it introduced its energy-self-sufficient modular home, LG Smart Cottage, to Minister of Climate, Energy and Environment Kim Seong-hwan on the 14th at LG Smart Cottage Village in Jincheon County, North Chungcheong Province. Also in attendance were Minister Kim, Seungtae Baek, vice president and head of LG Electronics’ HS Division, and Cho Yeon-woo, CEO of LG Smart Cottage.
The visit by the minister was arranged to explore the potential applications of energy-self-sufficient housing models in connection with the government’s Korean-style Green Transformation (K-GX) strategy.
LG Smart Cottage is a modular home that connects heat pumps, home appliances, a home energy management system (HEMS), an energy storage system (ESS), solar power generation equipment and more on a single platform.
LG Electronics introduced key technologies used in Smart Cottage and examples of how they are applied in living spaces. In particular, it showcased a residential environment that improves energy-use efficiency by integrating AI home appliances, Internet of Things (IoT) devices and HVAC systems.
LG Electronics’ HVAC technology is used in Smart Cottage, and energy equipment such as solar panels can be added as optional features. This makes it possible to manage household energy use efficiently while creating a living environment that takes energy production and consumption into account.
