[Financial News] Shinhan Bank has unveiled its first dedicated lounge for foreign customers. The lounge offers financial consultations and education and is also open on Sundays for foreigners who have difficulty visiting a bank on weekdays.
On the 14th, Shinhan Bank held an opening ceremony for the Shinhan SOL Global Lounge Daerim-dong on the second floor of its Daerim-dong branch in Yeongdeungpo-gu, Seoul.
The lounge, which began operating on the 12th, is Shinhan Bank’s first lounge specializing in services for foreign customers. It was established in connection with the branch’s existing service area so foreign customers can take care of banking matters while also relaxing and socializing.
Shinhan Bank plans to offer financial education and other programs in the lounge’s multipurpose space to help foreign customers settle in Korea. The bank aims to improve their financial literacy and access by providing not only financial consultations but also information on financial matters relevant to life in Korea.
Reflecting the character of Daerim-dong, where many foreign residents, including ethnic Koreans from China, live, the lounge will also operate on Sundays from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. This will allow foreign customers who have difficulty visiting a bank on weekdays to receive financial consultations on holidays.
Shinhan Bank is continuously expanding its online and offline financial infrastructure to improve foreign customers’ access to financial services. It currently operates branches focused on foreign customers in Ansan, Gimhae and Doksan-dong, and expanded the dedicated foreign-customer service counters at its Ansan branch in the first half of this year to help customers sign up for financial products.
Shinhan Bank President Jeong Sang-hyeok said, “We created this lounge to provide a space where foreign customers can comfortably receive financial consultations and communicate with one another.” He added, “Starting with Daerim-dong, we will expand dedicated lounges in major areas where foreign residents live to support foreign customers’ lives in Korea and provide the financial services they need.”
