[Financial News] APR’s beauty brand Medicube has posted record sales on Amazon in the U.S., raising expectations for results in the peak fourth quarter.
APR said on the 14th that Medicube’s U.S. sales during the two-day Amazon Big Deal Days promotion, which began on the 6th, rose 85% from the event last year. The brand also took part in its first promotion in Europe, including the U.K., Germany, Spain, Italy and France, and delivered its strongest results to date, setting record daily sales in every country.
During the event, Medicube ranked No. 1 among all search terms on Amazon in four countries: the U.S., the U.K., Italy and Spain. After ranking first among all search terms on Amazon in the U.S. during Amazon Prime Day in June, the brand’s popularity has spread to Europe.
The number of popular products also increased by country. In the U.S., 13 Medicube products ranked among the top 100 sellers, while an average of 16 products per European country made the top 100. The number of popular products at least doubled from the previous Prime Day, when an average of seven products per country entered the top 100.
Among the popular products were the Zero Pore Pad, the PDRN (polydeoxyribonucleotide) Pink Peptide Ampoule and the PDRN Pink Collagen Gel Mask, while new products also entered the rankings. Sales of beauty devices also grew year over year, drawing a positive response in the U.S. and Europe.
Following its sales success during the event, expectations are also rising for APR’s fourth-quarter results ahead of the year-end shopping season. This contrasts with the downward revisions to third-quarter earnings forecasts amid the won’s strength and changes to Amazon Prime Day’s schedule. The shift of this year’s Amazon Prime Day from July to June also had an effect, as related sales were reflected in second-quarter results. By contrast, expectations are growing for the fourth quarter, which includes the Black Friday and Christmas shopping peaks, including for the European market APR entered earlier this year alongside the U.S. According to financial data provider FnGuide, APR’s consolidated third-quarter operating profit forecast is 185 billion won, down 5.6% from 196 billion won a month earlier. By contrast, revisions to fourth-quarter operating profit forecasts were limited to 3%.
An APR representative said, “Ahead of year-end, this promotion confirmed strong popularity and demand for Medicube not only in the U.S. but also in Europe,” adding, “We will continue to respond proactively to global consumer demand during the upcoming year-end peak season.”
