[Financial News] ₩50 million will go toward training young technical talent to carry the mechanical equipment industry forward.
According to the Korea Mechanical Equipment Construction Association on the 14th, the association received a donation from honorary chairman Jo In-ho that day at a ceremony titled “Donation for the Development of the Mechanical Equipment Industry,” held at Mechanical Equipment Hall in Cheongdam-dong, Gangnam-gu, Seoul. The funds were contributed to the industry by Jo, who served as the association’s 12th chairman. The donation comes as securing skilled workers has emerged as an industry challenge amid growing demand from advanced sectors such as AI data centers and semiconductors.
The donation will be used to systematically nurture young talent who will take responsibility for the industry’s future. The association believes that, as the AI era begins in earnest, steadily developing skilled workers in the mechanical equipment sector has become even more important.
Asked about the reason for his donation, honorary chairman Jo said, “For the mechanical equipment industry to continue to develop, it is above all important to cultivate outstanding technical talent who will lead the future,” adding, “I made this contribution in the hope that it will provide a strong foundation for the future of the mechanical equipment industry.”
Honorary chairman Jo was also awarded the Gold Tower Order of Industrial Service Merit at the “2026 Construction Day” ceremony held on July 9 at Construction Hall in Gangnam-gu, Seoul, and hosted by the Ministry of Land, Infrastructure and Transport and the Korea Federation of Construction Associations. He was recognized for successfully carrying out major national projects over 40 years and contributing to the development of the mechanical equipment industry. The Gold Tower is the highest of the five grades of the Order of Industrial Service Merit. At the ceremony, 107 people who had contributed to the construction industry received government awards.
Chairman Heo Yong-ju said, “I am deeply grateful that honorary chairman Jo In-ho, who has devoted himself to the development of the mechanical equipment industry, has once again made such a meaningful decision,” adding, “I will do my utmost to ensure that his valuable gesture carries forward for the industry’s long-term future.”
