[Financial News] AUTECH Carrier, an affiliate of AUTECH Group, is expanding its supply footprint in the AI data center cooling equipment market. The company was selected as preferred bidder to supply cooling equipment for a massive 200 MW-class data center, following an earlier 48 MW-class project. If the final contract is concluded, it will secure its largest-ever chiller supply record for a single project.
According to the company on the 14th, AUTECH Carrier was selected on the 8th as preferred bidder to supply cooling equipment for the ‘Gumi AI Cluster Data Center Development Project,’ being developed in Gumi, North Gyeongsang Province. The project involves building a 200 MW-class hyperscale data center with IT capacity to support workloads based on NVIDIA Corporation’s next-generation AI computing platform, Rubin.
The equipment AUTECH Carrier is seeking to supply consists of 160 high-efficiency, air-cooled inverter screw chillers, model AquaForce 30XFZ, from global Carrier. The supply volume and contract value are expected to be finalized based on the outcome of final negotiations.
Industry observers are watching to see whether this project will help AUTECH Carrier expand its business from its traditional focus on commercial heating and cooling into high-value cooling infrastructure for AI data centers. As AI servers become more densely packed, heat generation and power consumption in data centers are rising, making cooling equipment efficiency a major factor in operating costs.
The 30XFZ units AUTECH Carrier is seeking to supply use free-cooling technology, which reduces the power needed for cooling when outdoor temperatures are low. According to the company, the technology can cut energy use by up to 50%, depending on operating conditions, and the units can return to full load within 120 seconds of a power outage.
In addition to air-cooled chillers, AUTECH Carrier is expanding into cooling water distribution units (CDUs) for liquid cooling and AI-based equipment management services. The recent listing of a 1.3 MW-class CDU product from global Carrier on the NVIDIA Corporation Marketplace is also noteworthy as the company seeks to secure next-generation cooling technologies.
However, the project is still at the preferred-bidder selection stage, and its actual contribution to revenue is expected to depend on the signing of a definitive contract and the supply schedule.
Industry observers expect increased investment in AI data centers to create more medium- to long-term order opportunities for cooling equipment companies. Analysts say that securing a supply track record on large projects will be a key factor in determining competitiveness in the future hyperscale data center market.
An industry insider said, “In the AI data center cooling equipment market, actual contract conversion rates and delivery schedules matter more than simply the volume of equipment supplied,” adding, “If the company secures a track record supplying a 200 MW-class project, it could build a favorable record for future competition to win orders for large data centers.”
Kang Seong-hee, chairman of AUTECH Carrier, emphasized, “We will expand our push into the domestic AI data center market through integrated solutions spanning everything from high-efficiency chillers to liquid cooling.”
