[Financial News] Yoon Seok-min, chairman of TY Holdings, has been elected the 17th chairman of the National Museum of Korea Association.
On the 14th, the association said Yoon was elected its new chairman at an extraordinary general meeting held on the 13th. He will succeed Park Eun-gwan, the 16th chairman, and lead the association for three years starting November 25.
From 2008 to 2011, incoming chairman Yoon served as the inaugural chair of the National Museum of Korea Association’s Young Friends (YFM), working to encourage younger generations to participate in supporting the museum and to foster a culture of giving. In 2020, he was appointed vice chairman of the association and took part in its operations and support activities.
The Association is a nonprofit incorporated association that supports the National Museum of Korea. It was founded in 1974 and received approval to incorporate in 1981. Through donations and gifts, it supports artifact donations, academic sponsorship, public education, improvements to museum facilities, and other initiatives.
It purchased a Joseon-era “mother-of-pearl box with a lotus-and-vine design” in 2023 and Hwang Gi-ro’s “cursive script” in 2024, donating both to the National Museum of Korea. Last month, it received a donation of 100 million won from BTS’s RM, who contributed the funds toward purchasing items for the museum’s collection.
Incoming chairman Yoon said, “Drawing on my experience of bringing people together in support of the museum as YFM’s inaugural chair, I will further build on the tradition of giving and support that the National Museum of Korea Association has upheld for some 50 years. I will work to share the value of our cultural heritage with more people and ensure that the next generation can enjoy the museum up close.”
