[Financial News] A bizarre incident occurred at a convenience store in Paju, Gyeonggi Province, where a man urinated on the display shelves and left.
According to store owner A, who reported the incident to JTBC’s “Case Leader” on the 12th, the man visited the convenience store around dawn on the 10th.
The man, who appeared to be drunk, lingered briefly in front of the display shelves, moved in close, and urinated. He then straightened his clothes and even stretched before leaving the store without buying anything.
An employee who was arranging products at the time moved to the checkout counter when the man came in. After the man left, the employee went back to arranging products and noticed that some were wet. Thinking someone had spilled water, the employee wiped them up and told store owner A, who came in to work the next morning, what had happened.
A described the situation at the time, saying, “At the morning shift change, the employee told me that someone must have spilled water because the coffee and other items were all wet. I wondered whether we could salvage the wet products and whether we should let them dry some more.”
A checked the security camera footage that evening and learned that the man had urinated on the display shelves. A said the incident had left them deeply shocked: “I was so angry. As soon as I saw it, I don’t know how many times I washed my hands again.”
A said they called in a company to clean and disinfect the contaminated area, and that the losses from products contaminated by the urine amounted to about 500,000 won. A had also reportedly filed a police report against the man.
