[Financial News] Aekyung Industrial donated 100 million won to help improve housing conditions and establish a foundation for daily life for young people preparing for independent living in Chungnam.
According to Aekyung Industrial on the 14th, the company held a handover ceremony for the third year of its “Chungnam Support Project for Young People Preparing for Independent Living” at the Chungnam Provincial Government building, together with Chungcheongnam-do and relevant organizations.
The project will serve 100 young people preparing for independent living in Chungnam. This year, Aekyung Industrial expanded the scope of its support from daily necessities to include housing improvements.
About 42 million won of the total donation will go toward housing improvements, including replacing wallpaper and flooring and repairing aging facilities. The company will assess beneficiaries’ daily-life challenges and housing conditions, determine the scope of needed improvements, and work with local Saemaul organizations and professional volunteers to improve their homes.
The remaining 58 million won or so will fund “New Start Packages” containing items needed for independent living. The packages will include kitchen supplies such as microwaves, frying pans and tableware, as well as daily-use and safety items such as electric kettles, power strips and first-aid kits.
Aekyung Industrial has been in its third year of supporting young people preparing for independent living since 2024. In the first year, it provided daily necessities worth 500,000 won per person to 200 young people in Chungnam. Last year, it ran emotional-support and cultural-experience programs, including healing camps and overseas training, for 100 people.
The Chungnam Community Chest of Korea, Chungcheongnam-do, the Chungcheongnam-do Saemaul Association and the Chungnam Independent Living Support Agency, among others, are responsible for selecting beneficiaries, operating the project and improving housing conditions.
Kim Sang-jun, CEO of Aekyung Industrial, said, “I hope this will help young people preparing for independent living get off to a stable start,” adding, “We will continue to expand our social contribution activities to help young people achieve independence.”
