【Financial News, Inje—Reporter Kim Ki-seop】Thanks to chrysanthemums and gujeolcho reaching their peak later than usual, the Inje Autumn Flower Festival postponed its closing by a week. Just 20 days after opening, it drew more than 300,000 visitors, setting a success record for the second consecutive year.
According to Inje County on the 14th, this year’s Inje Autumn Flower Festival, which opened on the 24th of last month in and around the Yongdae Tourist Area in Buk-myeon, had recorded a cumulative 300,571 visitors as of the 13th. With at least 300,000 visitors also attending last year, the festival is considered to have firmly established itself as Inje County’s signature autumn tourism event.
This year, the festival created a large-scale flower garden planted with colorful autumn blooms, including chrysanthemums, gujeolcho and verbena, under the theme “Let’s Walk Flower Paths in Inje.” The biggest draw was the Park In-hwan Romantic Garden, created to mark the 100th anniversary of poet Park In-hwan’s birth. It brought flowers and literature together in one space, drawing visitors in. Four themed gardens—Happiness Path, Love Path, Communication Path and Healing Path—as well as a waterside walking trail and a pine grove were also well received as places to relax and enjoy the feel of autumn.
Performances, hands-on programs and local agricultural and specialty-product stalls added to the festival’s attractions. With visitors of a wide range of ages, including families, coming to the festival grounds, the event helped showcase the appeal of autumn tourism in Inje.

The festival was originally scheduled to close on the 11th, but as autumn flowers throughout the garden reached their peak, the county extended the operating period by a week, through the 18th. The festival will now run for a total of 25 days. Flowers are now in full bloom even in areas where buds had not fully opened early in the festival, creating an even more abundant flower-lined path. For the remaining days, the county plans to take special care of the festival grounds so visitors can enjoy both the autumn flowers and the fall scenery of Inner Seorak.
During the extended period, the festival will focus on flower-garden viewing, with no performances or hands-on programs. The agricultural and specialty-product stalls, forest café and some food trucks will remain open. Admission is free, and visiting hours are from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m.
Kim Jeong-su, head of the festival team at the Inje County Cultural Foundation, said, “Flowers have now opened fully even in areas that were less in bloom early in the festival, so this is the most spectacular time at the festival grounds.” He added, “Although the performance schedule has ended, we will make sure the gardens are meticulously maintained through the closing day on the 18th, so visitors can fully enjoy the autumn scenery of Inner Seorak and the flower-lined paths before they leave.”
