[Financial News] The victim, who was taken to hospital in cardiac arrest after a man in his 50s went on a knife rampage at a large supermarket in Incheon on the afternoon of the 13th, has yet to regain consciousness, according to reports.
According to police and Gachon University Gil Medical Center, A, a woman in her 20s, was taken to hospital in cardiac arrest after being stabbed with a weapon wielded by B, 59, and underwent emergency surgery.
A has since recovered from cardiac arrest and is currently in the intensive care unit.
However, she has reportedly yet to regain consciousness. Medical staff at Gil Medical Center plan to conduct further tests soon after monitoring her progress.
A’s father met with reporters at the emergency department of Gil Hospital that afternoon and said angrily, “I want to see that bastard’s face.” He then left, saying, “I’m too shaken up right now. Let’s talk later.”
Seven other men and women in their 20s to 50s were also taken to hospital by 119 rescue teams as a result of B’s attack and are receiving treatment. Their injuries are not life-threatening.
The husband of C, a woman in her 50s who sustained injuries to her arms and shoulders, said, “My wife went to a commercial facility to take care of something and was injured.”
He went on to explain what happened: “After parking on the third floor, my wife was riding down the escalator when B came up from the opposite direction and stabbed her.”
B, who was holding a weapon in each hand, took an elevator from the building’s first floor to the second floor, where he carried out the attack. He then took the escalator up to the third floor, swinging the weapon at random people, according to reports.
Police plan to question B about his motive and other details of the crime, then seek an arrest warrant on the 14th.
