[Financial News] The number of families enrolled in Samsung Securities Co., Ltd.'s Family Office, an asset-management service for ultra-high-net-worth clients, has topped 200. Its client base is also expanding from traditional business owners to exit owners who have secured substantial liquidity through business sales and similar transactions, owners of emerging businesses, and ultra-high-net-worth individuals.
Samsung Securities Co., Ltd. said on the 14th that Family Office reached 200 families and 55 trillion won in client assets early last month. Family Office is an asset-management service for ultra-high-net-worth clients with financial assets of 100 billion won or more. The number of individual high-net-worth clients with at least 100 billion won in financial assets, separate from their equity stakes in companies, has also been growing recently.
Samsung Securities Co., Ltd. has continued to develop its investment-management framework to suit each client's wealth-building process and investment objectives. A key example is its “investment-management-based wealth management” model, in which private bankers (PBs) and investment-management specialists at headquarters jointly manage clients. The model was established to provide a systematic investment-management process on par with that used by institutional investors to clients with substantial assets or those who have experienced a temporary increase in liquidity through a business sale or similar event.
The company also operates a dedicated advisory committee for each family, made up of in-house experts. Through regular annual meetings and consultations as needed, each committee reviews the client's assets and key issues, and provides tailored solutions for each family with specialists in areas including investment, tax, and succession planning.
Its outsourced chief investment officer (OCIO) service, based on a systematic management process on par with that of institutional investors, is also becoming a core solution. Recently, the company introduced customized OCIO solutions that draw on the asset-management infrastructure and expertise of Samsung's financial affiliates and reflect each client's investment objectives and family characteristics. As of the end of June, OCIO assets under management for Family Office clients exceeded 900 billion won.
The company is also expanding its global investment network. Through collaboration with global alternative investment managers (GPs) such as Apollo Global Management, Blackstone Inc. and KKR, as well as global institutions including Singapore's sovereign wealth fund Temasek, Samsung Securities Co., Ltd. is identifying global investment opportunities that domestic ultra-high-net-worth clients may find difficult to access.
Yoo Jeong-hwa, managing director and head of Samsung Securities Co., Ltd.'s Family Office Division, said, “Building on our experience managing 55 trillion won in client assets, our global partnerships and Samsung's infrastructure, we will continue to develop as a family office that looks beyond assets to consider the family's important decisions and future together, and designs wealth and legacy that span generations, grounded in principle and responsibility.”
