[Financial News] Footage has been obtained showing a man in his 60s, identified as A, the suspect in the knife rampage at Homeplus in Guwol-dong, Namdong-gu, Incheon, staging a solo protest outside a hospital in Incheon last month.
Newsis reported on the 13th that A was spotted staging a solo protest on the sidewalk outside a hospital in Gyeyang-gu, Incheon, at around 11:13 a.m. on September 15. The video shows A pacing on the sidewalk outside the hospital while pointing at a placard with his finger.
A has reportedly been staging a solo protest outside the hospital since mid-August. The reason was reportedly that his symptoms had not improved despite receiving treatment for athlete’s foot. During this period, a citizen’s report to police last month that A was carrying a weapon was received, and A was reportedly booked at Incheon Gyeyang Police Station.
A is the suspect in the stabbing at the Homeplus Incheon Guwol branch at around 1:49 p.m. that day. He carried out the attack on people dining in the second-floor food court with weapons strapped to both hands. One woman in her 20s, who had been stabbed, was taken to hospital by 119 paramedics in cardiac arrest, and seven people were injured.
The other victims—two women in their 20s, one man in his 30s, three women in their 40s and one woman in her 50s—were taken to five hospitals for treatment. A was arrested at the scene by responding police and was reportedly wearing an electronic location-tracking device (an electronic ankle monitor). At least 10 weapons were also reportedly found in A’s bag.
