【Financial News | Daegu = Reporter Kim Jang-wook】Daegu City is pulling out all the stops to take another step forward as a hub for future industries.
Daegu City will host the “2026 Future Innovation Technology Expo” (hereafter, FIX) at EXCO for four days, from the 21st to the 24th.
Now in its third edition, FIX will feature a record 588 companies showcasing the latest technologies and innovations in emerging industries. Overseas companies will account for 28% of participants, and FIX is expected to further strengthen its international standing and foundations for global exchange.
FIX is the region's flagship exhibition for future industries, bringing together four key fields in emerging industries: mobility, robotics, information and communications technology (ICT), and startups.
Under the theme “Artificial Intelligence (AI): From Technology to Everyday Life,” the exhibition will spotlight innovative technologies already in use in industrial settings and everyday life, or set to be commercialized in the near future. It has also greatly expanded its interactive offerings so visitors can experience cutting-edge technologies firsthand and feel how they may change everyday life.
Of particular note is how AI is breaking down boundaries between industries and opening up new possibilities. Visitors will be able to experience the direction future industries are heading as technologies from fields such as automobiles, robotics, and ICT converge to give rise to new products and services.
Mayor Choo Kyung-ho said, “At a time when boundaries between industries are breaking down and the convergence of technologies is accelerating, this FIX will be an opportunity to see the efforts companies have made, the fruits of their innovation, and their determination to take on new challenges as they work toward a major transformation into future industries.”
He added, “We will experience the changes as AI and advanced technologies become deeply embedded in industrial settings and citizens' daily lives, and generate tangible export and investment results through technological cooperation and business exchanges between domestic and international companies.”
In the mobility sector, Hyundai Motor Company, GMTCK, and leading regional midsize companies SL, Kyung Chang Industrial, and L&F will participate. Global mobility companies including Mercedes-Benz, Zeekr, Neolix, and Volocopter will also make their debut this year.
In the robotics sector, major companies in physical AI will join domestic robot industry leaders HD Hyundai Robotics, which is making its first appearance this year with its next-generation HDC35-18 collaborative robot and dual-arm robot, and Doosan Robotics, also making its first appearance this year. The next-generation robot technologies and diverse real-world applications on display will draw attention as they showcase Daegu's status as the “AI Robot Capital.”
In the ICT sector, participants include Megazone Cloud, Asia's largest cloud management specialist, and OnePredict, which has the country's first commercially available industrial AI solution.
A circular shuttle bus will run between Dongdaegu Station and EXCO for visitors' convenience. FIX visitors will also receive a 30% discount on tickets to performances at the Daegu International Opera Festival, as well as discounts on all-day passes to Daegu E-World.
