[Financial News] Oh Dong-woon, chief of the Corruption Investigation Office for High-ranking Officials (CIO), said on the 13th, “I will humbly accept” criticism over the CIO’s inadequate investigation.
Oh replied to criticism from Democratic Party of Korea lawmaker Park Jie-won, who said, “I’ve watched the CIO for three years, but nothing has changed,” during the National Assembly Legislation and Judiciary Committee’s audit of the CIO that day.
Park then asked, “Do you have any intention of voluntarily stepping down and taking responsibility for the series of issues to date?” Oh replied, “I’m doing my best,” and added, “I will show you results.”
When Park asked, “What on earth have you achieved so far?” Oh replied, “I think the CIO’s efforts to do its utmost in investigating the insurrection are a source of pride for the agency.”
When Park again raised the prospect of resignation, Oh said, “I’m not someone who clings to the position,” adding, “I’ll take it as meaning that you want me to work hard.”
