【Financial News, Chuncheon = Reporter Kim Gi-seop】Technoparks in the central region—Daejeon, Sejong, South Chungcheong and North Chungcheong—and those in the three special regions of Gangwon, North Jeolla and Jeju put their heads together in Chuncheon to pool their previously dispersed corporate support capabilities.
According to Gangwon Technopark on the 13th, the second Pan-Regional SME Technology Innovation Council, jointly hosted by seven regional technoparks across the country, is being held at the M83 Hotel in Chuncheon from that day through the 14th. The council was organized to expand corporate support networks, which are divided by region, into a system of cooperation across broader regions, in line with the government’s Five Mega-Regions and Three Special Regions strategy for balanced national growth. Around 30 people attended, including the heads of corporate support divisions at each technopark.
On the first day, participants shared exemplary cases from this year’s corporate support work in each region, and an expert gave a special lecture on key issues in technopark corporate support policy. Participants then exchanged information and discussed current issues in corporate support programs, practical support measures they could put to use immediately, and cooperative projects to pursue together. They also discussed ways to identify joint projects and spread the results of those projects.
On the second day, participants will visit information and communications technology companies based in Chuncheon to learn about how local youth-led businesses have grown and about their talent development systems. They are also scheduled to tour sites where local companies have successfully commercialized technologies, including artificial intelligence-based immersive content and digital twin platforms.
Choi Gap-yong, head of the Corporate Support Division at Gangwon Technopark, said, “Since the seven regional technoparks have shared exemplary cases from this year and the challenges they face on the ground in one place, I hope this council will be a starting point for leading corporate technological innovation together across regional boundaries.” He added, “Rather than stopping at meeting and exchanging information, we will pool our strength across regions and focus on ‘what we can create together,’ bringing vitality to the regional economy through tangible joint results.”
