[Financial News] Plans for mixed-use development in four Texas cities and the Korean specialized industrial complex (K-Industrial Complex) project in Abu Dhabi, United Arab Emirates (UAE), will be presented together to South Korea’s construction and engineering sector. The development sites and their intended uses, target industries, and incentives will all be disclosed, giving companies a chance to seriously assess whether to enter the market. A Texas delegation, including the mayor of Bastrop, will also attend in person to discuss cooperation with Korean companies.
On the 13th, the International Contractors Association of Korea (ICAK) said it will hold the “5th Convergence K-City Platform Briefing (Abu Dhabi·Texas)” at 2 p.m. on the 15th at its education center on the first floor. The briefing aims to connect Texas local governments, economic development agencies, and local project stakeholders with Korean construction, engineering, and convergence-industry companies.
Through its Convergence K-City Platform, the association has continued to connect overseas urban development and smart city projects with Korean construction and engineering firms, as well as ICT, culture, and content companies. It held its first briefing in July 2025, and in November that year covered the development of a new city in Tashkent, Uzbekistan, and real estate development trends in California, the United States. In January this year, it introduced housing and smart city projects in Saudi Arabia and Kuwait. The association plans to continue holding briefings with local institutions and organizing business-matching and networking events, focusing on emerging markets and strategic regions, to support Korean companies seeking to enter overseas development projects and convergence fields.
An association representative said, “This briefing gives Korean companies an opportunity to review in one place the specific development plans and incentives for the Abu Dhabi K-Industrial Complex and Texas, and to communicate directly with local institutions.” The representative added, “We will actively support efforts to ensure that demand for cooperation identified through this briefing leads to follow-up discussions and substantive participation in projects.”
