[Financial News] LS Materials has secured the largest export contract in the industry’s history, signing a UC supply deal worth nearly 70 billion won with a U.S. hydrogen fuel cell company.
LS Materials said on the 13th that it would supply UC for AI data centers (AIDCs), worth approximately $51.5 million (about 69 billion won), to a U.S. hydrogen fuel cell company, entering the AIDC power infrastructure market.
The deal is worth about 2.4 times LS Materials’ standalone revenue last year (approximately 29 billion won). The contracted products are scheduled to be supplied in stages over about a year starting in April 2027.
With talks underway on an additional supply contract, LS Materials signed an initial supply deal worth approximately $4.7 million (about 6.3 billion won) with the company last July, with deliveries scheduled to begin this November.
The cumulative value of orders, including this contract, is approximately $56 million. If an additional contract is signed this year, the total is expected to exceed $100 million.
LS Materials said the deal marks its first UC supply for AIDCs and signifies an expansion of its business—previously centered on industrial applications such as wind turbines, automated guided vehicles (AGVs), and uninterruptible power supplies (UPS)—into the AI power infrastructure sector.
Demand for UC for hydrogen fuel cells is also expected to rise as the AIDC power infrastructure market expands. UC rapidly charges and discharges large amounts of power to respond to sudden load fluctuations and stabilize the output of hydrogen fuel cell systems.
Mid- to large-sized UC requires advanced technological capabilities, and a handful of global companies, including LS Materials, lead the market. LS Materials also expects sustained revenue growth.
LS Materials CEO Young-Ho Hong said, “This contract is significant because we have made a full-fledged entry into the AIDC hydrogen fuel cell market and secured a new foundation for growth,” adding, “We will expand our cooperation with customers and strengthen our push into global markets, drawing on our technological capabilities in the mid- to large-sized UC sector.”
