[Financial News] The Ministry of Education and the Korea Institute for Advancement of Technology (KIAT) will hold “Round Up,” a student support event for advanced industry talent development boot camps in semiconductors and future mobility, at COEX in Seoul from the 14th to the 16th. Students participating in boot camps jointly run by universities and companies will be able to explore technology trends at an industry exhibition and access recruitment information and career consultations.
According to the Ministry of Education on the 13th, this year’s event will have students visit in person an industry exhibition where companies are gathered. In 2024 and 2025, students in advanced fields were brought together in one place and companies were invited. This year, the event will be held in conjunction with exhibitions for the semiconductor and future mobility sectors.
The semiconductor program will run for three days from the 14th in conjunction with SEDEX 2026, the country’s largest specialized semiconductor exhibition. Around 100 students from 28 universities that operate semiconductor boot camps will take part. At the exhibition, attended by 280 semiconductor-related companies including Samsung Electronics and SK hynix, students will tour the exhibition halls of major companies and learn about the latest technology trends. At the recruitment fair, they will learn about companies’ preferred candidate profiles and hiring information, and receive career consultations from industry professionals and experts in design, materials, parts and equipment (MPE), packaging, and testing.
The future mobility program will be held for one day on the 14th in conjunction with the 57th Korea Electronics Show (KES 2026). Around 70 students from four universities that operate future mobility boot camps will take part. Students will attend the “Future Car Insight Forum,” which covers trends in the future mobility industry and technology, and join a docent-led tour of exhibition booths run by companies participating in the Mobility Convergence Hall. The program will also include career mentoring by industry professionals and exchanges between undergraduate and graduate students on academic papers and industry-academia projects.
The Advanced Industry Talent Development Boot Camp is a program in which universities and companies jointly develop and run intensive short-term training courses lasting up to one year to train professionals for advanced industries. In 2026, the Ministry of Education is supporting 88 universities across eight fields: artificial intelligence (AI), semiconductors, secondary batteries, displays, biotechnology, aerospace, future mobility, and robotics. This year’s program budget is KRW 134.175 billion.
