According to industry sources on the 13th, Hansol Paper received the “Platinum” rating, awarded to the top 1% of companies, in a sustainability assessment conducted by EcoVadis, a global ESG rating agency. It has maintained the highest rating for four consecutive years since first receiving Platinum in 2023.
EcoVadis assesses companies in around 180 countries and around 150,000 companies worldwide across four areas: the environment, labor and human rights, ethics, and sustainable procurement. It evaluates all participating companies on a relative basis, rather than by specific industry, and awards Platinum (top 1%), Gold (top 5%), Silver (top 15%), and Bronze (top 35%) ratings.
Hansol Paper said it received high marks in this assessment across its sustainability management efforts, including climate change response, water resource management, biodiversity protection, resource-circulation systems, and responsible sourcing of raw materials.
The paper industry, in particular, is one in which environmental management is important at every stage, from sourcing raw materials to production and recycling. The achievement is considered significant because capabilities in carbon reduction, resource circulation, and responsible supply-chain management can be directly linked to competitiveness in global business. Maintaining the highest rating for four consecutive years also shows that ESG management has become an ongoing management system rather than a one-off effort.
A Hansol Paper representative said, “We will link key ESG priorities—including advancing our resource-circulation system, efforts to reduce carbon emissions, realizing social values related to safety and human rights, and responsible supply-chain management—with our business competitiveness and deliver tangible results.”
