[Financial News] Bitcoin fell to around $81,000 as caution mounted ahead of the release of the U.S. September Consumer Price Index (CPI).
According to global crypto asset data platform CoinMarketCap, as of 10:20 a.m. on the 13th, Bitcoin was trading at around $81,000, down 2.51% from the previous day (on a 24-hour basis).
Bitcoin is trading at around 111 million won on Korean won markets. The Korean premium is 1.29%, according to Cryprice, a global crypto market comparison platform.
The market appears to see a high likelihood that inflation will pick up in the September CPI, due to be released on the 14th (local time). According to foreign media reports and other sources, experts expect the September CPI to rise 0.6% from the previous month, exceeding the 0.4% increase recorded in August. If inflation exceeds expectations, the likelihood of a benchmark rate hike by the Federal Reserve System (Fed) will also increase.
The Crypto Fear and Greed Index provided by CoinMarketCap stood at 51 that day, indicating “neutral.” The index ranges from 0 to 100: readings closer to 0 are interpreted as “extreme fear,” while those closer to 100 indicate “extreme greed.”
At the same time, Ethereum was trading at around $2,434, down 4.31% from the previous day. Ripple was trading at around $1.33, down 5.21%.
