[The Financial News] As the era of AI agents gathers momentum, an exchange-traded fund (ETF) reflecting this trend has emerged.
Samsung Asset Management said on the 13th that it would newly list the ‘KODEX US AI Agent Active’ ETF, which focuses its investments on AI agents.
AI agents go beyond simply handling users’ requests: they understand work goals on their own, plan and carry out the necessary tasks, and produce results. As AI agents begin to play a role in various areas of everyday life, the center of the AI industry is expanding beyond semiconductors such as memory and central processing units (CPUs) to areas where real-world services are delivered.
KODEX US AI Agent Active invests in key U.S. companies that make up the AI agent industry ecosystem. It focuses on companies that stand to benefit from the use of AI agents, while also including companies and industries needed for AI agents to operate smoothly.
As an actively managed fund, it flexibly adjusts portfolio weightings based on market conditions and the growth prospects of individual companies. In a market where competition for top rankings intensifies whenever new AI agents and similar products are launched, it seeks excess returns by using an active strategy to reflect market changes quickly.
Its benchmark is the ‘Indxx US AI Agents’ index, which is structured so that its three largest holdings, including Meta, Palantir, and Palo Alto Networks, account for about 47%.
Rather than concentrating investments in a particular industry or company, the fund diversifies across the growth potential of the AI agent ecosystem as a whole. It also includes companies from various fields needed to put AI agents to work, including cloud computing, data, semiconductors, power infrastructure, and payments.
Han Dong-hoon, a manager at Samsung Asset Management, explained, “As the AI industry rapidly expands beyond infrastructure development into the stage where AI is used in real-world work, AI agents are at the center of that shift. This ETF is a product that diversifies across the AI ecosystem as a whole while using active management to respond to rapidly changing trends in the AI market.”
