[Financial News] Jo Ji-tae, head of LG Innotek’s Package Solution Business Division (executive vice president), was selected for and received the Silver Tower Order of Industrial Service Merit for contributions to production innovation using artificial intelligence (AI) and strengthening the competitiveness of the materials and components business.
LG Innotek announced on the 13th that Executive Vice President Jo received the Silver Tower Order of Industrial Service Merit at a ceremony marking the 21st Electronics and IT Day, held at COEX in Seoul’s Gangnam District. Electronics and IT Day was established in 2005 to recognize people whose contributions have raised the industry’s profile and supported the development of the national economy.
Executive Vice President Jo was recognized for leading the development of globally leading materials and components businesses, production innovation through artificial intelligence transformation (AX), and the localization of equipment. He was also credited with contributing to LG Innotek’s cumulative exports reaching 80 trillion won from 2021 to 2025.
Jo, who joined LG Innotek in 2004, is regarded as a “production specialist” who has strengthened the quality and production competitiveness of key businesses, including Optical Solutions and Package Solutions. Since 2017, he has served as head of LG Innotek’s production subsidiary in Vietnam and overseen production for Optical Solutions, before leading the Optical Solutions Business Division until last year.
In particular, he integrated AI throughout the process from mobile camera module development to mass production, establishing a system to automatically inspect and improve quality. The company said this helped raise yields and strengthen its global No. 1 position in the camera module business. Last year, LG Innotek’s mobile camera module revenue was at least 30 times its 2010 figure.
Late last year, Executive Vice President Jo was appointed head of the Package Solution Business Division, which leads the semiconductor substrate business. With demand for high-value-added semiconductor substrates rising amid the spread of AI, he was tapped as the right person to lead both production-line expansion and yield stabilization.
The company is currently pursuing a large-scale investment to at least double its semiconductor substrate production capacity. Its goal is to grow operating profit in the Package Solutions business to around 1 trillion won within five years.
Executive Vice President Jo said, “I am pleased, yet feel a profound sense of responsibility, to receive this award on behalf of all the employees who have spared no passion or effort in securing differentiated technology and business competitiveness. I will do everything I can to ensure LG Innotek continues to grow as a global electronics and IT company representing South Korea.”
