[Financial News] GS Retail is joining forces with the Korea Agro-Fisheries & Food Trade Corporation (aT) to boost consumption of traditional liquor and expand sales channels for local breweries. The plan is to broaden access to traditional liquor by linking an online alcohol-ordering service with offline stores nationwide.
According to industry sources on the 13th, GS Retail signed an agreement with aT on the 8th to promote traditional liquor and expand sales channels for local breweries. Jin-Hyuk Jeon, head of GS Retail’s O4O Division, and Gi-chan Jeon, aT’s director of food exports, attended the signing ceremony, among others.
The two sides will feature and sell aT-recommended traditional liquors and award-winning entries in the Our Sool Competition through GS Retail’s Wine25Plus smart alcohol-ordering service. Customers can order products online and pick them up at a nearby GS25 or GS The Fresh. They also plan to select competitive products based on sales performance and other factors and expand sales to offline stores.
They will also run special promotions for traditional liquor and promote local breweries. This month, Wine25Plus will operate a dedicated section for traditional liquor, and in November it will introduce a section linked to aT’s “Visiting Brewery” program. Toward the end of the year, the two sides plan to hold joint promotions, including home-party packages to enjoy with traditional liquor.
They will also run a campaign to foster local brands, showcasing traditional liquors and breweries that use locally produced agricultural products. The plan is to give local breweries opportunities to sell and promote their products while making traditional liquor more accessible to consumers.
“We expect this agreement to help introduce excellent traditional liquors and local breweries to customers and expand opportunities for consumers to discover and purchase traditional liquor more conveniently,” said Jin-Hyuk Jeon, head of GS Retail’s O4O Division.
