[Financial News] Crown-Haitai Confectionery successfully concluded the country’s largest privately organized traditional Korean music performance, staged with the participation of its employees. The employees created an opportunity for unity through traditional Korean music.
According to industry sources on the 13th, Crown-Haitai Confectionery held the 21st Changsinje Festival, the country’s largest privately organized traditional music performance, over three days from the 10th to the 12th at the Grand Theater of the Sejong Center for the Performing Arts in Jongno District, Seoul.
Now in its 21st edition, the Changsinje Festival is a stage dedicated to preserving the original form of traditional music and fostering its future development.
The theme of this performance is Sujecheon, which originated in the Baekje song Jeongeupsa, developed into court music, and is regarded as the pinnacle of Korean traditional music. For the fifth consecutive year, the festival has centered its program on Sujecheon, seeking to create a new future for traditional Korean music by preserving its original form and reinterpreting it with a modern sensibility.
The performance opened with 100 Crown-Haitai Confectionery employees singing the lyrics of Jeongeupsa in a mass choir. Next, Jeonpyehuimun, an ilmu dance that lets audiences take in Sujecheon visually, was presented on stage.
The program also featured Obangjeongjae, performed for the first time by 50 Crown-Haitai Confectionery employees, as well as Sujecheon Dongrak, a lively samulnori performance. The Yangju Pungnyu Music Society, made up of top-tier master musicians, brought the program to a close with an ensemble performance of Sujecheon in its original form.
The second day also featured the “Yeongjae Haneumhoe Changsinje Special Performance.” It brought together gifted young performers who had won prizes at the “Gather Round! Haneum Dream Tree Contest,” held annually by Crown-Haitai Confectionery to discover the next generation of traditional Korean music performers.
Crown-Haitai Confectionery Chairman Yoon Young-dal said, “The Changsinje Festival is a valuable stage where Crown-Haitai creates and enjoys happiness with its customers through traditional Korean music,” adding, “We will continue working so that many people in Korea and around the world can enjoy the beauty of our traditional music together.”
