[Financial News]  Rain will fall across most of the country on the 13th and gradually clear from daytime. Up to 50 mm of rain is expected in the Chungcheong region. Temperatures will then drop sharply as cold air moves down from the northwest, with the morning low on the 14th falling to 5°C.
According to the Korean Meteorological Administration, rain will stop in most areas between noon and 3 p.m. today, but in some parts of Busan, Ulsan and Gyeongnam it will continue until between 3 and 6 p.m.
The heaviest rainfall, 10–50 mm, is expected in Daejeon, Sejong, South Chungcheong and North Chungcheong. South Gyeonggi, inland and mountainous areas of Gangwon, the northern east coast of Gangwon, and North Jeolla are expected to receive 5–40 mm, while Seoul, Incheon, North Gyeonggi, the Five West Sea Islands, and the central and southern east coast of Gangwon are expected to get 5–20 mm. Gwangju, South Jeolla, Busan, Ulsan, Gyeongnam, Daegu, North Gyeongsang, Ulleungdo and Dokdo are expected to receive 5–30 mm, while Jeju is forecast to get 5–20 mm.
Areas continuing to see rain could get heavy downpours of 10–20 mm per hour accompanied by gusts, thunder and lightning. From late afternoon through the night, raindrops are also expected in some areas where the rain has stopped.
The daytime high on the 13th is forecast to be 19–26°C. Temperatures will drop sharply from the evening, however, as a trough moving east from the Yellow Sea passes over the Korean Peninsula and cold air flows in from the northwest.
The morning low on the 14th is forecast to be 5–14°C, about 5–10 degrees lower than the previous day. The daytime high is expected to remain between 17 and 22°C. Strong winds, with gusts of around 55 km/h, will blow across most of the country, making it feel even colder.
On the 12th, Seoul’s daytime high reached 30.1°C, tying the record for the highest October temperature, set on October 3, 1913. Daejeon also climbed to 31.5°C, surpassing its previous record of 31.2°C.
Chilly weather is expected to continue through the 15th. The morning low that day will be 4–12°C, with temperatures falling to 10°C or lower across most of the country. They will drop to 5°C or lower in inland and mountainous areas of Gangwon and some southern inland areas, and frost or ice is possible in some places.
Waves at sea will begin to rise on the night of the 13th, starting in the central West Sea offshore waters. On the 14th, waves of 1.5–3.5 m are expected across most seas, with a possibility of waves reaching 5 m or higher in some far offshore waters of the East Sea. The Korean Meteorological Administration forecast that strong wind alerts could be issued on the night of the 13th for the Five West Sea Islands and some islands off South Chungcheong and North Jeolla, and that a marine weather alert could be issued for the central West Sea offshore waters.
