[Financial News]  A story has emerged of a diner who suddenly lost consciousness and collapsed while eating lunch at a restaurant, but was brought through the crisis by the swift emergency response of police officers dining at a neighboring table.
On the 8th, a post titled “A Small Miracle at Our Restaurant” appeared on the online community Bobaedream.
A, who said they run a jjamppong restaurant in Nonhyeon-dong, Namdong-gu, Incheon, shared a video capturing what happened at the restaurant on the 3rd and the circumstances at the time.
According to A, at around 11:15 a.m. that day, as the restaurant was bustling with the lunch crowd as usual, a customer suddenly lost consciousness and collapsed onto a table.
A recalled, “All the customers who were eating were startled and flustered. Just then, staff from the Traffic Safety Division of Incheon Nonhyeon Police Station, who were dining at a table two tables away, came over without a moment’s hesitation, and emergency care began as if they had planned it. Each person took on a role and performed CPR, and one officer put a hand in the person’s mouth to secure their breathing. The officer seemed strongly determined to save them at all costs.”
A continued, “A little while later, as color returned to the person’s face and they gradually regained consciousness, the officers kept talking to them so they wouldn’t lose consciousness again. They took care of everything until 119 arrived and the patient was handed over.”
A said, “The customer was taken to the hospital, and I prepared fresh food and served it to the officers. Several customers at other tables who witnessed all this offered to cover the officers’ meals. I wasn’t planning to accept payment either, but in the end, an officer paid the bill.”
A continued, “I was so grateful that I wanted to offer a small token of my appreciation, but laws like the Improper Solicitation and Graft Act, also known as the Kim Young-ran Act, made that difficult. Even now, thinking about what might have happened if the officers hadn’t been there makes my heart pound.” A added, “Once again, I’d like to express my heartfelt thanks to the staff of the Traffic Safety Division at Incheon Nonhyeon Police Station.”
Netizens who read the story responded with comments including, “Applause and respect to everyone who was there,” “They’re true heroes,” “Thank you to the officers who saved a precious life,” and “The world is still warm.”
