According to the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism on the 12th, Minister Choi Hwi-young met with Eric Thill, Luxembourg’s culture minister, that afternoon at the Seoul branch of the National Museum of Modern and Contemporary Art in Jongno-gu, Seoul, to discuss ways to cooperate.
Choi welcomed Minister Thill on his first visit to South Korea and said he hoped the cooperation that has continued since the two countries opened embassies in each other’s capitals in 2024 would expand into film, gaming, tourism and other fields.
Minister Thill expressed hope for joint projects combining his country’s strengths in digital technology and artificial intelligence (AI) with South Korea’s capabilities in content and cultural technology.
The visit came as ‘Dora,’ a film directed by Jeong Juri and co-produced by the two countries, was officially invited to the 31st Busan International Film Festival. The Korean Film Council and the Luxembourg Film Fund signed a memorandum of understanding (MOU) on the 10th to expand cooperation in the film sector.
‘Dora’ is an international co-production involving production companies from South Korea, France and Luxembourg. It was also invited to the Directors’ Fortnight at this year’s 79th Cannes Film Festival.
