L&C Bio said on the 12th that it had signed an exclusive supply contract for the Re2O series with a U.S.-based company specializing in human tissue and biotech products, as well as a tissue bank. The contract runs for about five years, from the 12th through the end of 2031, with full-scale supply set to begin in 2027 following preliminary marketing this year.
The contract value was calculated based on the minimum purchase amount (MPQ) for the 150 mg Re2O product. The minimum contract amounts by year are about $900,000 in 2026, followed by $7.2 million in 2027, $10.8 million in 2028, $11.7 million in 2029, $14.4 million in 2030 and $16.2 million in 2031.
The contract does not include Re2O Fine or Re2O V. The company structured the agreement to allow for separate additional supply of the two products as production capacity expands and local demand grows. As a result, the actual supply value could exceed the minimum contract amount.
The U.S. partner is a local company with sales and distribution infrastructure for relevant human tissue products and a tissue bank license. It has a customer network of about 17,000 hospitals and clinics, as well as networks of leading medical professionals and key opinion leaders (KOLs). The two companies have not disclosed the partner’s name due to contractual confidentiality obligations and plan to reveal it when Re2O is first shipped to the United States.
L&C Bio plans to build an initial market foothold by conducting product training and academic activities for local medical professionals and KOLs during the remainder of this year. The company also cited the U.S. partner’s review of the potential for market entry under the Food and Drug Administration (FDA)’s 361 regulatory framework for human cells, tissues and related products (HCT/P) as a factor behind the deal. However, actual market entry and distribution are contingent on meeting the relevant regulatory requirements.
The company plans to expand its medium- to long-term production capacity by expanding its existing facilities and building a new plant in Dongtan. It will increase Re2O supply in line with production capacity and market demand, while also being able to discuss with its partner ways to expand its U.S. business, including broadening its local distribution and business operations and acquiring a tissue bank.
L&C Bio Chairman Lee Hwan-cheol said, “This contract is a starting point for bringing the human tissue ECM technology we have developed in Korea to the world’s largest market, the United States.” He added, “We will begin stable supply in 2027 and increase supply as production capacity expands, growing Re2O into a global ECM brand.”
