[Financial News] A chatbot that guides adolescents in checking in with their emotions and seeking help when needed has been unveiled. It uses images and messages from the group Tomorrow X Together in a format that guides users through a series of step-by-step conversations.
According to the UNICEF Korea Committee on the 12th, the youth mental health chatbot ‘My Mind Guide’ was launched worldwide on the 10th, World Mental Health Day. The service was created to mark the first anniversary of the ‘Together for Tomorrow’ campaign, which began last year.
Users navigate the chatbot by making choices based on scenarios designed by experts; it guides them in understanding and expressing their emotions. In crisis situations, it connects users with professional counseling and support. It was developed based on the ‘Helping Adolescents Thrive (HAT)’ toolkit, guidelines for promoting and preventing mental health problems among adolescents jointly developed by the World Health Organization (WHO) and UNICEF, as well as UNICEF’s mental health framework.
The HAT toolkit, introduced by the WHO, identifies as key strategies not only psychosocial support for adolescents but also support for parents and caregivers and the creation of environments that protect mental health. This approach addresses both adolescents’ management of their own emotions and the support systems around them.
Over the past year, Tomorrow X Together has taken part in the campaign and emphasized the courage to speak honestly about emotions and ask for help. By participating in this chatbot, the group has expanded its activities into the digital realm. Users who complete the entire process can receive special messages and photos from the members.
The chatbot is available through the ‘My Mind Guide’ link on the ‘Together for Tomorrow’ campaign website.
Tomorrow X Together said, “Since anyone can face difficult moments, we hope this guide will help people look honestly at their emotions and ask for help without hesitation when they need it.”
