[Financial News] Gmarket has moved to its new headquarters in Seongsu-dong, Seoul, ushering in the “Seongsu era.”
According to industry sources on the 12th, Gmarket employees reported for their first day at the new headquarters in Seongsu-dong that day. Senior leaders handed out celebratory steamed rice cakes to employees on their way in, marking the fresh start.
The new headquarters, Starlit Seongsu N, is a newly built building with 11 stories above ground. Gmarket plans to use most of the space for offices, excluding the retail units on the lower floors.
The central theme of the new headquarters is “OPEN.” It signifies embracing new trends and changes, drawing closer to customers and sellers, and fostering free communication across departments and job levels within the organization. Reflecting the nature of an open marketplace, which connects customers and sellers, the workspaces have been arranged to help employees meet naturally and exchange ideas.
The building also has facilities for relaxation and interaction. These include an in-house café staffed by a professional barista, a rooftop garden, and refresh zones for recharging. The healthcare room, staffed by a nurse, provides first aid as well as individual health consultations on matters such as obesity and quitting smoking.
A new space has also been created to support sellers. The seventh floor of the new headquarters houses a “Live Commerce Open Studio” equipped with broadcasting gear to help sellers produce and host livestreams. Gmarket also plans to expand in-person meetings and interaction.
Gmarket plans to draw on Seongsu-dong’s character as a hub for diverse brands and content to understand consumer trends and broaden its points of contact with customers and sellers. It will also consider online and offline activities that allow them to experience Gmarket firsthand.
A Gmarket representative said, “The new headquarters in Seongsu-dong is not simply a move to a different workplace; it is a starting point for transforming the way Gmarket works and communicates. As a leading open-market company, we will draw even closer to customers and sellers and make a new leap forward in Seongsu.”
