The Visit Korea Committee, chaired by Lee Boo-jin, announced on the 12th that it is launching the public-private cultural tourism project ‘K Treasure Trail’ with SK Telecom, the National Museum of Korea and the Cultural Foundation of National Museum of Korea.
The project was designed to create a cultural tourism route starting in Seongsu-dong, Seoul, and extending to the National Museum of Korea and regional museums, in connection with Visit Korea Year 2027–2029.
The four organizations plan to present exhibitions, hands-on programs and merchandise featuring content based on museum artifacts, with SKT’s T Factory Seongsu serving as the hub. They plan to expand the project in stages through 2027, starting with the first program this coming November.
The Visit Korea Committee will oversee project planning, operations and promotion, while SKT will provide the venue and handle exhibition planning and content production. The National Museum of Korea will provide expert content review, and the Cultural Foundation of National Museum of Korea will jointly plan and produce the museum merchandise ‘MU:DS’.
The Visit Korea Committee plans to direct foreign tourists visiting Seongsu-dong to the National Museum of Korea and regional museums, and to promote regional tourism by building links with local small businesses and private companies.
Han Hye-ri, secretary-general of the Visit Korea Committee, called it “a new model of public-private partnership that connects the private sector’s strengths in spaces and content with public institutions’ cultural assets,” adding, “We hope it will serve as a tangible catalyst for expanding regional tourism.”
