The Busan Smart Manufacturing Innovation Center said on the 12th that it had supported three local manufacturers in preparing proposals for government projects run by the Ministry of SMEs and Startups, and that all three were ultimately selected.

First, KISWIRE was selected for the 'Rapid Commercialization Support Program for AI Application Products in Manufacturing.' Gomotech and GNT Busan Uiyongchon were each selected for the 'Autonomous Factory Construction Support Program.'
This achievement is significant not only because individual companies were selected for government projects, but also because a Busan-based manufacturing support organization has moved beyond its traditional focus on smart factory construction to identify challenges that can be addressed using AI and connect them with government projects. In other words, it has expanded its role as a 'Busan-based manufacturing AX planning and support organization.'
KISWIRE entered the competition with a project to 'develop an AI agent-based solution' to address wire breakage during the wire-drawing process, a key stage in wire production. The company aims to move away from process management centered on experience and after-the-fact responses, and transition to a data- and AI-based system for prediction and decision-making.
Through the Autonomous Factory Construction Support Program, the two companies aim to analyze their production processes, levels of automation and manufacturing data environments, and use AI and data to make their production processes more intelligent. GNT Busan Uiyongchon is a notable case of a company that previously participated in the smart factory program advancing to the autonomous factory stage, marking the next stage of growth after smart factory implementation.
From the project identification stage, Busan Techno Park and the center assessed companies' on-site challenges and the potential for applying AI, then helped plan projects by developing them into business models suitable for real manufacturing sites. They are expanding their support beyond the existing smart factory deployment program to include manufacturing AI and autonomous factories, with a focus on making the manufacturing AX support framework more comprehensive at every stage of companies' growth.
Won Gwang-hae, head of Regional-Industry-Academia DX at Busan Techno Park, said, "The significance of this achievement lies in turning on-site problems faced by local manufacturers into AI projects and connecting them with government programs." He emphasized, "Building on our recognized capacity to support companies on the ground, we will strengthen our role as a key manufacturing AX institution supporting their growth at every stage, from smart factories to manufacturing AI and autonomous manufacturing."
