[Financial News] The Blue House held an emergency security review meeting on the 12th in response to North Korea’s firing of several ballistic missiles from the Pyongyang area toward the East Sea. It demanded an immediate halt to North Korea’s repeated shows of force, calling them a grave act that violates UN Security Council resolutions.
Kang Yoo-jung, the Blue House’s chief spokesperson, said in a written briefing that the Blue House National Security Office had held an emergency security review meeting attended by relevant agencies, including the Ministry of National Defense and the Joint Chiefs of Staff.
The meeting was held after North Korea fired several ballistic missiles from the Pyongyang area toward the East Sea that day. Participants shared updates on recent North Korean ballistic missile launches and reviewed the South Korean military’s readiness posture and the overall security situation.
The National Security Office urged relevant agencies to maintain an airtight state of readiness, while analyzing and assessing from multiple angles the impact the launch could have on South Korea’s security. It also issued instructions to ensure that any necessary follow-up measures were carried out without disruption as the situation developed.
The National Security Office said, “North Korea’s repeated ballistic missile launches violate UN Security Council resolutions and constitute a grave act that does not help manage the current situation on the Korean Peninsula,” adding, “We urge North Korea to halt them immediately.”
Meanwhile, the Joint Chiefs of Staff said North Korea had fired an unidentified projectile toward the East Sea that morning. The JCS is analyzing the projectile’s specifications and range.
