[Financial News] A program is being organized to help participants learn about the history of Geumjeongsanseong Fortress in Busan and experience its natural surroundings firsthand on foot.
Busan’s Geumjeong District announced on the 12th that it will run the “Geumjeongsanseong Guardian Corps: South Gate Wall Trail Expedition” four times from this month through next month.
The program is part of the Living National Heritage initiative. Rather than simply viewing Geumjeongsanseong Fortress, a leading national heritage site in the area, participants can walk along its walls and experience its history and ecology. The program is designed as a historical tour that brings both together.
Those selected for the expedition will take part in a group walk along a route that starts at Geumjeongsanseong Plaza, passes the South Gate and Second Watchtower, and returns to the plaza. Each session can accommodate 50 people, for a total of 200. The first and second sessions this month will be held on the 24th and 25th, respectively, over the weekend.
Participants can enjoy a range of activities as they walk along Geumjeongsanseong Fortress’s walls, colored by the feel of autumn, including making a traditional hopae identification tag and a forest ecology treasure hunt. The program combines walking, hands-on activities and missions to make it easy and fun for everyone, from children to adults, to experience the fortress’s history and nature.
Applications for the first and second sessions open on the 14th and close at 1 p.m. on the 16th. Individuals and families are welcome to apply, and participants will be selected by lottery.
Applications can be submitted through the Geumjeong District Office website or the specialized reservation website “Geumjeongsanseong Guardian Corps.” The fee is 5,000 won per person. Participants will also receive discount coupons for Sanseong Village businesses, linking the national heritage experience to visits to local businesses.
Geumjeong District Chief Yoon Il-hyeon said, “Geumjeongsanseong Fortress is a treasured national heritage site of Geumjeong District, preserving both a long history and beautiful natural scenery.” He added, “I hope this expedition gives people the chance to walk along the fortress walls in autumn and joyfully discover the value and appeal of our local national heritage.”
