[Financial News] Semiconductor testing equipment maker Exicon is up more than 10% early in the session. Expectations for growth in its testing-equipment business continue amid rising demand for SSDs used in AI servers.
According to the Korea Exchange, as of 9:33 a.m. on the 12th, Exicon was trading at 58,800 won, up 5,500 won (10.32%) from the previous trading day. The stock opened at 52,800 won that day and rose as high as 59,100 won intraday.
Exicon supplies equipment that tests the performance and reliability of memory semiconductors and SSDs. Analysts say that because high-capacity, high-performance SSDs used in AI servers undergo 100% inspection, an increase in shipments could lead to greater demand for testing equipment. The shift to next-generation sixth-generation (Gen6) SSDs is also seen as a factor that could support demand for new equipment.
The chamber-type low-frequency memory tester (CLT), equipment used to test DRAM, is also a growth driver. Demand to replace aging equipment is coinciding with new investment as the semiconductor industry recovers, raising expectations that supplies of equipment and consumable parts will increase.
Lee Sang-heon, a researcher at iM Securities, said, "Demand for SSD testers is also growing as shipments of high-value-added SSDs for servers increase," and forecast that "with CLT revenue growth gathering momentum, revenue from SSD testers will add to it and accelerate earnings improvement."
