[Financial News] As more parents worry about their children’s reading dropping sharply as they move into the upper elementary grades, an expert reading solution has been introduced to help children reconnect with books. Woongjin ThinkBig Co., Ltd. released on the 12th a follow-up to the reading education video series “Reading the Child, the Child Reads,” produced with literacy expert and Hanyang University Professor Jo Byeong-yeong. The video takes the form of a Q&A, offering practical ways to address parents’ real-life concerns about their children’s education.
In the video, Professor Jo analyzes why children drift away from reading as they grow, under the theme “Why do upper-elementary students grow distant from books?” He said, “If reading feels like an assignment or homework, children may lose their motivation to read voluntarily,” and added, “It is more important than anything to create an environment where children want to read on their own.” He also suggested that helping children experience the sense of accomplishment that comes from finishing a book they chose themselves is key to building lasting reading habits.
Starting with this content, Woongjin ThinkBig Co., Ltd. will release three Q&A videos this month, one after another, answering parents’ questions on topics including “Books and Emotions” and “How to Read Aloud in Different Situations.” It also plans to provide “Reading Insights” content through its official website and share the educational benefits of linking it with KRS (Korea Reading System), a tailored reading development platform for preschool and elementary school students.
Woongjin ThinkBig Co., Ltd. CEO Yoon Seung-hyeon said, “We developed this to provide expert solutions to parents’ practical concerns about reading education,” adding, “Through Professor Jo’s reading education series and KRS, which provides a comprehensive assessment of children’s reading abilities, preferences and temperaments, we will support children in developing the habit of reading on their own.”
