[Financial News] Korea Investment & Securities Co., Ltd. is stepping up practical support for companies to help them respond to institutional changes, including the introduction of fund-type retirement pension plans and mandatory external funding of retirement benefits. Korea Investment & Securities Co., Ltd., a subsidiary of Korea Investment Holdings, said on the 12th that it had held a ‘Retirement Pension Academy’ on the 8th at TP Tower in Yeouido, Seoul, for retirement pension practitioners, including corporate HR and finance staff.
The event was organized to share strategies for companies to respond to the government’s push to amend the Act on the Guarantee of Employees’ Retirement Benefits and to changes in labor policy. It featured three sessions centered on key issues, including the introduction of fund-type retirement pension plans and mandatory external funding of retirement benefits.
The first session, titled ‘Comprehensive Revision of the Act on the Guarantee of Employees’ Retirement Benefits,’ introduced ways for companies to improve the efficiency of retirement pension management following the introduction of fund-type plans, as well as practical guidelines for preparing for mandatory external funding of retirement benefits.
The second session covered changes in labor policies related to wages and compensation, along with strategies for responding to them. It examined ways to manage wages as the scope of issues subject to labor disputes expands to include management performance bonuses, and outlined strategies for operating wage peak systems in preparation for discussions on extending the retirement age and the age-65 era.
The final session introduced ways to make use of Korea Investment & Securities Co., Ltd.’s pension services. It shared solutions to key concerns of corporate executives and practical issues arising in the course of administering retirement pension plans, and explained how to make use of dedicated relationship managers (RMs) who provide tailored services for retirement pensions and corporate finance more broadly.
Through the academy, Korea Investment & Securities Co., Ltd. plans to help companies understand institutional changes while strengthening its support framework spanning retirement pension management and corporate finance.
Kim Do-hyun, head of Korea Investment & Securities Co., Ltd.’s Individual Customer Group, said, “As the retirement pension system reaches a major turning point with the introduction of fund-type plans and mandatory external funding, corporate representatives are becoming increasingly concerned.” He added, “We will strengthen tailored consulting and practical support so companies can respond proactively to institutional changes, and serve as a reliable retirement pension partner.”
