[Financial News] The Korean Register (KR) said on the 12th that it will hold the ‘KR Digital Technology Seminar 2026’ at the Oakwood Premier Hotel Coex Center in Seoul on the afternoon of the 15th.
KR is working to develop innovative technologies based on artificial intelligence (AI) to accelerate its transition into a digital classification society, support the sustainable growth of the maritime industry, and create value for customers.
The seminar, under the theme ‘Data Intelligence and AI Innovation in the Maritime Industry,’ will bring together domestic experts to discuss ways to create new industrial value by making intelligent use of data accumulated across the maritime industry and applying AI technologies.
The keynote address will be delivered by Professor Jang Dong-in of the KAIST Graduate School of AI. Under the theme ‘How to Become a Top AI Expert in the Era of Vibe Coding,’ he will outline how generative AI and code automation are changing engineers’ capabilities and growth strategies.
KR will introduce its digital transformation initiatives, including the launch of ‘MariSpace,’ a spatial information platform that recreates a ship’s interior as a three-dimensional space to manage ship information, and KR guidelines for approving ship designs based on 3D models.
KR will also share plans for innovating its technical services through data and AI, including proof-of-concept results and challenges related to installing robots aboard ships, an AI-based web service for integrated access to classification rules, development of a data hub for analyzing ship performance, and development of an AI agent for ship design.
Kim Dae-heon, head of KR’s Research Division, said, “The competitiveness of the maritime industry depends on how intelligently accumulated data is used.” He added, “I hope this seminar will be a forum for exchanging experiences in the industry’s digital transformation and the latest AI applications, and will lead to practical technical cooperation.”
