[Financial News] Celltrion disclosed on the 12th that it posted preliminary consolidated revenue of 1.5 trillion won and operating profit of 510 billion won in the third quarter of this year. Revenue rose 45.8% and operating profit 69.2% from the same period a year earlier. Its operating margin rose 4.7 percentage points to 34%.
Both revenue and operating profit hit all-time quarterly highs. The company had never before recorded quarterly operating profit of more than 500 billion won since its founding. A higher sales share for high-margin follow-on products and cost improvements from greater production efficiency drove the increase in profitability.
Celltrion also exceeded its quarterly operating profit targets, announced at the start of the year, for three consecutive quarters. The company had set targets of 300 billion won in the first quarter, 400 billion won in the second quarter, and at least 500 billion won in the third quarter.
In Europe, sales of follow-on products such as Remsima SC and Omlyclo expanded. Omlyclo recorded a market share of at least 90% in Spain as of July, and the company projected that it would reach at least 98% in Denmark by year-end, supported by its performance in national tenders.
In the United States, Steqeyma and Yuflyma had market shares of 15% and 11%, respectively, as of August. The shares for existing products Truxima and Inflectra were 39% and 31%, respectively.
Omlyclo, launched in the United States early this month, is also seen as a new growth driver. It was listed as a preferred drug on the private-insurance formulary managed by U.S. pharmacy benefit manager (PBM) Optum, and Celltrion plans to expand prescriptions through reimbursement coverage in the fourth quarter.
Celltrion plans to sustain its growth in the fourth quarter by continuing to expand sales of follow-on products and improve costs, while focusing on achieving its annual business plan.
