[Financial News] To mark Hangeul Day, CJ Freshway operated a Sejong Pa-dak pop-up store as part of a local community partnership project and donated all the proceeds to support children facing food insecurity.
According to industry sources on the 12th, CJ Freshway teamed up with the Sejong City Culture and Tourism Foundation to run a Sejong Pa-dak pop-up store at the Sejong Hangeul Festival, held at Sejong Lake Park in Sejong City from the 9th to the 11th. The company carried out a community partnership initiative using Sejong Pa-dak, a local signature dish, to link efforts to revitalize local businesses with charitable giving.
Visitors who donated 3,000 won at the pop-up store received a tasting voucher and a coupon redeemable at pa-dak restaurants in Jochiwon Market. The donations collected at the event will be given to the Community Chest of Korea to support children facing food insecurity.
The pop-up store featured Sejong Pa-dak, which appeared in “Local Calling,” an original series by CJ ENM’s Sapiens Studio. It used a recipe revealed on the show by chef Cho Seo-hyeong, who runs restaurants including Euljiro Boseok and Yeouido Yojeong. CJ Freshway also served the Sejong Pa-dak featured on the show as a menu item at 10 group-catering locations it operates in the Seoul metropolitan area.
“It is meaningful that we have given local signature dishes a fresh introduction through content intellectual property (IP) and a chef’s recipe, and expanded the effort into initiatives to revitalize local businesses and give back to the community,” a CJ Freshway representative said. “Going forward, we will continue to develop menu items using each region’s distinctive foods and specialties and promote their value widely.”
