[Financial News] A man who fled after seeing police arrive in response to a report of suspected drunk driving was found to be a wanted man when they caught him.
On the 8th, a video titled 'The identity of the man who desperately fled from police officers... Wait, what??' was uploaded to the YouTube channel 'Korean National Police Agency'.
According to the video, on Aug. 15, a citizen reported seeing a man riding a two-wheeler after drinking at a restaurant in Anyang, Gyeonggi Province.
After receiving the report, police determined the man’s destination and went to a nearby lottery shop.
When an officer who arrived at the scene and spotted the man tried to check whether he had been drinking, the man suddenly started running away. He fled across the road but was eventually caught by police.
The man’s blood alcohol concentration, as measured by police, was reportedly at a level that would result in a license suspension.
The investigation found that the man was wanted in two cases, including one for instigating the harboring of a criminal. The report of suspected drunk driving thus led to the arrest of a wanted man.
A police official said, “Thanks to active reports from members of the public and the police’s swift response, we were able to apprehend the wanted man.”
Viewers who saw the video commented, “It’s so impressive to see them keep running without giving up until the very end,” “The police officers are amazing, but it seems reports from members of the public play an important role,” and “They work so hard. The police officers are the best.”
