[Financial News] Mixed martial arts fighter and TV personality Choo Sung-hoon said he would suspend his social media activity for the time being after sharing news of the death of an acquaintance he loved and respected. The deceased was in their 40s, and Choo expressed deep sorrow over the sudden loss.
On the 11th, Choo announced on social media that a close acquaintance had passed away. He said, “Someone I loved and respected so much has passed away at such an early age, still only in their 40s. I’m so heartbroken and sad that I don’t know what to say.”
Speaking about the difficulties the deceased had faced, he said, “Only you know what pain you went through or what happened, but I still hoped you would find a little more strength.”
He also expressed his wish to see the deceased again. Choo mourned, saying, “I still can’t believe it, and my heart hurts so much. I want to see you one more time. I offer my deepest condolences and pray that the deceased may rest in peace.”
At the end of his post, Choo said, “I will suspend all social media activity for the time being.”
Choo had previously announced plans to compete in the mixed martial arts (MMA) event “Black Combat 17,” to be held at Gocheok Sky Dome in Guro-gu, Seoul. At the time, he said he would suspend public activities, including appearances on TV and YouTube, to focus on preparing for the fight.
The production team for his YouTube channel also said Choo planned to reduce his broadcast appearances while preparing for the fight. The team said, “Choo is currently focusing on training and preparing for his ‘last fight,’” adding that he had decided to refrain from variety shows and other broadcast activities until the fight.
The team added, “Since we have the opportunity to be alongside Choo Sung-hoon, the entertainer preparing to show himself as a fighter one last time, we are rooting for his challenge with all our hearts,” and offered their support, saying, “We hope he creates a wonderful moment with a great fight.”
Choo competed as a judoka before switching to mixed martial arts in 2004. He has since competed in various martial arts events and, more recently, appeared in reality shows, survival programs, YouTube content and other productions.
