[Financial News] Singer and actor Kim Min-jong has personally explained why he withdrew the criminal complaint he had filed against singer MC Mong.
On My Little Old Boy, an SBS variety show that aired on the 11th, Kim Min-jong invited actor Lee Jong-hyuk and singer Yoon Min-soo to his home, where they talked.
That day, Kim Min-jong spoke about MC Mong, who had raised allegations that he was involved in illegal gambling, and recalled what happened at the time.
Previously, during a live broadcast last May, MC Mong claimed that an illegal gambling group involving entertainers existed and named Kim Min-jong as one of its members.
Kim Min-jong immediately denied MC Mong’s claim and, on the 1st of last month, filed a police complaint against him on suspicion of violating the Act on Promotion of Information and Communications Network Utilization and Information Protection, etc. (defamation).
On the 5th of last month, MC Mong met Kim Min-jong in person and apologized, and admitted his wrongdoing during a live broadcast.
Kim Min-jong’s side accepted MC Mong’s apology and withdrew the complaint on the 9th of the same month.
Recalling what happened at the time, Kim Min-jong said, “I did it for myself. He apologized very sincerely, and I thought, ‘What would be the point of taking this any further?’”
He added, “I really did it to put my mind at ease, for my own sake (withdrawing the complaint).”
Kim Min-jong also revealed that this disrupted his work on a project.
He said he had withdrawn from a project that was scheduled to be filmed, and that another actor was cast.
Kim Min-jong said, “I guess it wasn’t meant to be either. The director had been preparing for a long time, since three years ago, so it was even harder for the director,” but added, “My mental state went up and down a lot, but once it was all over, things fell into place.”
