[Financial News] Actor Kang Seok-woo was appointed a chair professor at the College of the Arts at his alma mater, Dongguk University, on his 70th birthday. His daughter, actor Kang Da-eun, shared a video of the family celebrating his birthday, and people online also continued to comment on her appearance.
Kang Seok-woo recently announced on social media that he had been appointed a chair professor. He said, “I was appointed a chair professor at Dongguk University’s College of the Arts as of October 1 (my birthday).”
He also announced the date of his first special lecture. “I’ll give my first special lecture on the 15th on Chopin and the history of European revolutions,” Kang Seok-woo said, adding, “I’m also looking forward to pianist Kim Jung-won’s performance of Chopin.”
Along with announcing his appointment, he also posted a photo taken with Dongguk University President Yoon Jae-woong.
Meanwhile, Kang Seok-woo’s daughter, Kang Da-eun, also celebrated her father’s birthday. On the 10th, she posted a video on her YouTube channel titled “Dad’s Birthday Vlog | Do We Look a Little Alike?”
Kang Seok-woo’s wife, daughter, and son and daughter-in-law gathered at a restaurant for his 70th birthday. After sharing a meal, the family celebrated with a cake and gifts prepared by Kang Da-eun. The video she posted also showed the celebration.
Kang Seok-woo’s connection with Dongguk University began when he enrolled in its Department of Theater and Film in 1977. He later served as an ambassador for his alma mater and has maintained close ties with the university.
He has also taken part in efforts to support younger students. He donated funds needed to develop Dongguk University’s baseball team and helped establish the “Mentor Scholarship Fund for Supporting Juniors” with fellow alumni, including actor Lee Deok-hwa.
Alongside news of Kang Seok-woo’s appointment as a professor, comments online also focused on his daughter Kang Da-eun’s appearance. Some users wrote, “I’m more drawn to the daughter’s face than to the fact that he became a professor,” “No. 1 among celebrity daughters in looks—she’s never had an awkward phase,” and “Her face is glowing.”
Kang Seok-woo, who made his debut in the 1978 film “Yeosu,” later appeared in films such as “Winter Wanderer” and “A House for Two Women,” and dramas including “Ordinary People,” “Walking to the Sky,” and “For Love.”
