“Failed at stock investing because of you” ... Daughter in her 40s kills father while he slept after he berated her

[Financial News] A daughter in her 40s who lost money investing funds from her father was arrested on suspicion of killing him because she feared his reproach.
Yonhap News reported on the 11th that the Cheonan Dongnam Police Station in South Chungcheong Province had arrested a woman in her 40s, identified as A, on suspicion of murdering her father.
A is suspected of striking B, a man in his 60s, with a blunt object and killing him while he slept at an apartment in Cheonan at around noon on the 13th of last month.
The crime came to light only after more than three weeks had passed.
After the crime, A stayed at a lodging facility in Sokcho, Gangwon Province. A missing-person report was filed after she left her belongings behind and became unreachable.
While tracing A’s whereabouts after receiving the report, police visited B’s home on the 8th and found him dead.
Based on factors including the absence of any signs that gas had been used in the home after A’s visit, police identified her as a suspect and arrested her urgently.
Investigators determined that several years ago, A received several hundred million won from her father to invest in stocks and other assets, but suffered losses. She reportedly told investigators that her father blamed her for the failed investment, saying, “It’s because of you,” whenever they met, and that the resulting stress led her to commit the crime.
A reportedly said that she had made up her mind on the day of the crime. Police have not found any indication so far that she planned it.
The court issued a detention warrant for A the previous day.
Police plan to investigate the precise circumstances and motive of the crime, including through forensic analysis of her mobile phone.
