[Financial News] Bukangi, a shark staying at North Port Waterfront Park in Busan’s Dong-gu, is drawing huge crowds every holiday. Visitors have continued to come hoping to catch a glimpse of Bukangi swimming through the channel, and more than 200,000 people visited the park during the three-day Hangul Day holiday alone.
According to Busan Facilities Corporation on the 11th, a total of 205,000 visitors were recorded at North Port Waterfront Park from the 9th through 6 p.m. that day. The park drew 74,000 visitors on the 9th, the first day of the holiday, and 75,000 on the 10th, with another 56,000 visiting that day.
Earlier, 264,000 people visited the park during the National Foundation Day holiday, from the 3rd to the 5th. The cumulative number of visitors from the 18th of last month, when Bukangi was first spotted in the park’s artificial channel, through the 11th reached 1,348,800.
Bukangi, a Heuksangeo shark about 3 meters long, has not left the park’s artificial channel despite two rescue attempts by the relevant authorities. The authorities believe Bukangi may be able to return to the sea on its own as the water temperature drops, and are monitoring its health.
Meanwhile, as Bukangi’s stay has grown longer, information about its sighting patterns and other details has been shared on social media (SNS). A web service has also emerged that gathers reports from visitors and provides information on sightings.
